Hello Bratislava, Slovakia - there you are!

We are currently parked up at the side of the Danube, overlooking the beautiful city of Bratislava (N48.13621 E17.11528).  It is a free mixed car park and no facilities but that's fine for us, as we are full of water and gas and empty of all waste.
Sonny, the motorhome on the left-hand side, nestled besides the Danube at Bratislava in the fog
It was a really foggy journey from Hungary all the way to Slovakia but from what we could make out it was farm land most of the way.  Like our crossing from Slovenia to Hungary, the transition from Hungary to Slovakia was a 'passport free' journey and we passed from one country into the other without any indication of having done so.

Across the border  and into the fog we go, what's on the other side we wonder!
Ooh to be given a  choice of 3 countries at this intersection - Austria (Vienna), Hungary (Győr), Czech Republic (Brno.  Mmm, what route do we fancy!
Leaving Budapest we had one last stop in Hungary at the city of Győr, close to the Slovakia border.  We were surprised at how interesting and colourful a town it was with some beautiful historic buildings and reminded us of some German towns we have visited in the past.  We had only intended stopping at the city a short while so Mel could get his hair cut - and boy did he get a 'short, back and sides' at this barber shop!

The funny thing was, that as soon as we walked into the shop and we managed to speak a combination of English and German to him, he turned to me and said "no women allowed in here".  We looked at each other, smiled and wondered why, but I just left quietly and wondered what era he thought he was living in!  So I wondered the town for a while, as Mel got cut by a cut-throat razor and I took lots and lots of photos!!

Founded in 1654, the ornate pharmacy - the only museum in the country that functions as a modern-day pharmacy
Bishop's Castle and Cathedral

A giant Soda-Water Siphon - Anyos Jedlik patented the industrial production of carbonated water. Győr is renowned as the city of ‘spritzers, as Jedlik quenched his companions' thirst with a mixture of white wine and fizzy water, courtesy of the soda siphon

Golden Ship Trade Sign and the Ethling Family Blue-Dyeing Shop.  The tradition of textile printing of Gyor dates back to the 1600s' and the Ethling family has been dying the motifs of Hungary for four generations

Ark of the covenant - short version of story is that as a result of a soldier accused of bigamy in 1729, he had to pay for the sculpture out of his wages

So, the moral of the story is don't leave me a alone in a city with a camera for any length of time!!  We liked the town so much, that we ended up wild camping by the side of the river for the night (N47.69599 E17.64210) - it was so peaceful!
Tomorrow, hopefully the fog will lift and we will explore Bratislava.
