We are currently on a lovely natural campsite in the south bay island of Čiovo, on the outskirts of Trogir – Camp Labadusa (N43.48215° E16.24465°).
The campsite stretches along the bay on the Adriatic, surrounded by pine forests. It is so remote here that it is has no mains
water, and relies on a truck bringing it in every 3-4 days and a generator for
its electricity, which gets switched off between 10.30pm and 7am - we love a rustic campsite!
Leaving our last campsite near Plitvice Lakes, Sonny (the
motorhome) got into a bit of a fight with one of the buildings near to the
reception! He is a bit battered and bruised but fortunately he has come
back out fighting without too much damage to his bodywork.
The damage to the building’s roof and guttering cost us 100
euros - ouch!
Accidents happen and we didn’t dwell on it for long. We settled our bill of 3 nights stay at the
campsite plus €100 for the damage. Looks
like we will be on rice and beans and water for a week to make up for the loss
in our budget - haha!
Leaving Plitvice Lake, we took a lovely scenic route skirting around Krka National Park and the Dinara mountain range to the coast and island of Čiovo. We could tell Autumn was on its way by the lovely reds, oranges and yellows on the hillside.
Labadusa campsite is bursting at the seams with motorhomes, caravans and tents, and when we
arrived we got the last place, as a motorhome had just left! There is an overflow next door to the
campsite but it is just a car park and even that is full. Since arriving, there has been a constant one out and one in. It appears that all nationalities have headed
to these parts to get the last of the sun, as we have been told that north of here has seen some pretty miserable weather this summer.
There are motorhomes here from all nationalities: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Slovenia,
Poland, Austria, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic and of course us Brits!
The day before yesterday, we took a scooter ride to the island of Trogir – about 5kms
away. It is linked to the mainland by two bridges either side of the island and is another UNESCO World
Heritage Site – we have lost count how many of these we have visited over the
last 9 months!
The town is very tiny, you can walk from one end to the other
in about 5 minutes. But we took lots of
time ambling around the narrow winding streets, enjoying its charm.

It is packed with restaurants and lots of
character and although there were a lot of nationalities here milling around, we
didn’t spot one tourist group – good result!

There are lots of Romanesque churches, and a cathedral - of course!
The last couple of days have been spent lazing on the beach,
walking around the bay of Ciovo and just relaxing, reading and soaking up the
sun!

Tomorrow we are visiting Split, via a boat from Trogir. Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!
